But so far the game is pretty generous with that stuff.įor now I also didn't feel the need to grind, I'm getting enough as it is. I was uneasy at first about making save points and I don't really like to use the charge shot, cause I'm always afraid of ending up without energy. (Sure, that's what metroidvanias are, but I'm talking about areas, that are off the main course and I can already open up and clear to some degree - but still will have to revisit.) :O ), but there are still orbs left and right I have no chance of getting.

I'm trying to be as efficient as possible during my first visit and even had the feeling that I forced myself through some challenges, I should have made later (especially since I missed to upgrade to the air dash as soon as possible I expected to get the dash separately and thought, upgrading to it now would be a waste. It seems you have to revisit areas pretty often, if you want to collect everything. :/ĭouble jump is also a bit different than I'm used to you don't really gain hight, if you just jump on the spot. Just having the flame to shoot is lame, I'd like to fight with Ori directly. It looks and sounds incredible, it feels good, I love the platforming - but the combat is dull. (Made me think of Tales of Two Sons).īut did I get that right - the owl caused the forest to die, that's why they can't get food anymore, right? It looked like autumn at first directly after the intro I was a bit confused, what just happened there. A bit too cliche heartbroken sad, but still awesome, how you are even forced to play that part. Honestly, I'm loving it but - one of the first areas I get told to go to is the fucking SPIDERcave?! You shitting me? Why do it always have to be spiders?! D: Just got back that water orb and opened the Ginso tree.

The new additions don't extend the length of the game by much, but they do freshen things up and breathe some new life into an already wonderful experience.įinally started today and played 3 hours. If you already own a copy of the original game and are itching for another playthrough, readmission is worth the $5 upgrade. If you haven't made the time for this magical Metroidvania yet, this is the way to go. Whether you've never played the game before or are eager to check out what's new, Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is an experience you'll be sure to love.ĭefinitive Edition clearly exists to ensure the best possible version of Ori and the Blind Forest is on the market, and Moon Studios has undoubtedly succeeded in that regard. While the game may not reinvent the wheel when it comes to metroidvanias, there is no questioning that it nails the genre and the Definitive Edition makes it an even sweeter ride. The game is now more accessible for those who had trouble with it the first time, while also providing more of a challenge for those who were begging for it. Moon Studios took the feedback they got from fans for the original version of Ori and the Blind Forest, and with it they addressed just about every issue while also offering a lot more.
